The UKBCCI Trade Delegation recently returned from Bangladesh after a six day tour, sourcing the best business opportunities in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong.
The delegation was made up of leaders from a variety of industry sectors in the UK.
Upon visiting these cities in Bangladesh, the team met with local businesses, entrepreneurs, sector ministers, leading government officials including officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Education and the National Chamber, as well as industry leaders.
UKBCCI President Bajloor Rashid MBE said “It has been a very successful trade mission, it was a highly profiled tour, recognised by the Bangladesh Government, leading business people and trade bodies from Bangladesh. The UKBCCI are proud that the British High Commission acknowledged and endorsed our objectives.” He went on to say “We left Bangladesh feeling that the business bond between the two countries has been further strengthened.”
The Department for International Trade in Dhaka informed Mr Rashid that the meetings in Bangladesh had been widely reported in the press and that the visit had achieved a positive and high profile. They were particularly heartened by the positive impression the delegation had left, not only of the possible trade opportunities, but the strength of the ‘people to people’ links too. This positivity was also shared by the Bangladesh High Commission in London who were reported as saying that the Trade Delegation to Bangladesh had the been very successful.
The UKBCCI said “Within a year a report will be submitted detailing how much has been achieved from this latest trade tour.”
